At 3i Financial Investment Services Inc. we work together with our many industry partners to help our clients to reach their financial goals and manage their risks.  We believe that it is a tremendous advantage for us to be able to offer a complete range of financial products from the top mutual fund and labour sponsored companies.  It is also our job to objectively analyze our clients’ immediate and future needs, risk tolerance, and their financial goals.

Before we match any client needs with our industry partners’ products, we follow a three-step process that ultimately ends with a 3i Personal Financial Plan tailored to the individual client, family, or business specific requirement.  Each step has a purpose and clearly defined goal in mind.

Step 1- Baseline fact-finding and understanding

During Step 1, the initial meeting, our goal is to gather as much information as possible about your unique situation and to address any questions or concerns that you may have.  In other words, we get to know each other better.  The type of information that we are looking for is basically about your hopes and dreams for the future and how they relate to where you stand today.  Some of the specific areas we want to know about include: your retirement goals, family status, risk tolerance, any constraints, tax situation, estate plans, employment status, time horizon etc.

Step 2- Analysis and recommendations

During Step 2, we analyze all of the information you have provided to identify any risks and assess if you are on the right financial path to reach your objectives.  At this stage we also believe that it is vitally important to communicate to you if your current expectations can be met by your current behavior.  If not we will make recommendations that we believe will assist you in reaching your goals.  The suggestions we make range from very simple to very complex depending on your situation.  Our recommendations will be objective, realistic, and achievable.  If based on your current situation and behavior we determine that your expectations are not realistic, we will communicate this to you and work with you to come up with solutions.

Step 3- Action plan

During Step 3, we will provide you with a very specific action plan and schedule a follow up meeting with you in the future to ensure that you remain on track and to make any necessary modifications to your plan.  We follow a life cycle process in our investment recommendation and risk management strategies; therefore, these strategies may need to be modified as your financial situation changes due to events such as: marriage, starting a family, starting a business, retiring, planning your estate etc.

Once we have created your 3i Personal Financial Plan, we will shop around for you and objectively recommend the best products from our industry partners’ that we believe will meet your needs.  Our role is to help you to plan, analyze, and then to recommend the best financial products to you, however, you should always keep in mind that the final decision to implement any or all of our recommendations is always yours.  We will never push you to do anything.

In certain situations, and always with your authorization, we may bring in other professionals in order to better analyze and implement your plan.  We will never provide any specific advice outside of the areas in which we are licensed to do so.  As a result, when necessary we will work together with Accountants, Lawyers, Mortgage Brokers, Real Estate Agents, and Bankers to provide more comprehensive financial solutions.
